Welcome to the Atlantic Swine Research Partnership Inc., a non-profit research corporation at the University of Prince Edward Island.
The Atlantic Swine Research Partnership (ASRP) is a joint research division of the Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island Pork Producers’ Associations, with support from the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island, the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, and the PEI Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture.
With support from pork producers, the ASRP conducts strategic research activities for the development of Atlantic Canada’s pork industry. Current research priorities include reducing cost of production, nutrition (with a key emphasis on reducing feed cost), herd health, environmental management, and greenhouse gas mitigation strategies.
In keeping with its commitment to conducting research that is relevant to the Maritime pork industry, producers from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island are encouraged to recommend research projects directly to the ASRP.
Dr. Daniel Hurnik, a faculty member in the Department of Health Management at the Atlantic Veterinary College, is the Industry Chair for Swine Research and Chief Executive Officer of the Atlantic Swine Research Partnership Inc.
